If America Were a Village by David J. Smith

This book is very similar to the author's other book If the World Were a Village.  In this book the author imagines the population of America as a village of 100 people and then describes what that village would be like based upon statistical information.  One example is that 75 of the 100 people would be white, 12 would be black, 1 would be a Native American, and 4 would be Asian.  The other 8 would be either a combination of races or a different race.  In the section about where Americans live the author also looked back at how the numbers have changed over the years.  Back in the 1900s more people lived in the country than in the city but now way more people live in cities.  This is a really interesting book and would be fun to compare with If the World Were a Village.
