This is another Maine Student Book Award nominee which I listened to. The set up was great. Clements jumped right into the action and mystery. Benjamin has great voice and the relationship between he and Jill was fun. There is a great sub plot involving Ben's parents. Like I said things were going great...clues discovered, evil janitor and then... There was a chapter or more devoted to a sailboat race which is a hobby of Benjamin's. But, it didn't seem to really fit in with the story (maybe it will tie in more with the sequels) and then the story was over. I was stunned when it just ended. And the book is short...no real reason why the whole story couldn't have been in one book. I am intrigued enough to want to read the sequels and you should definitely read it but it won't get my vote for MSBA.
