This is another one of the Maine Student Book Award nominees. I am a fan of the Grimm fairy tales - so different than the Disney versions. This one is the story of Hansel and Gretel and in true Grimm fashion it is more violent and bloody and no singing princesses. I really enjoyed the book. I like how the narrator stops and addresses the reader - warning about the violent parts or just giving extra information.
