I read Our Only May Amelia this past summer and while I liked it, it wasn't my favorite book ever and I really wasn't sure I agreed with its Newbery Honor status. So, when my professor recommended The Trouble with May Amelia I didn't rush right out to read it. Now it is on a shortlist as a possible Newbery and since I wanted to read everything on the shortlist I finally broke down to read it. It is a good book. I actually think I like it better than the first one. There are some really good scenes and the ending was good. Do I think it is worthy of a Newbery - not really. You should read it - if you like historical fiction and feisty girl characters. But if you are looking for a Newbery...we'll see if I'm right in a few weeks.
