This is another book off the shortlist of a Mock Newbery Blog. It is the story of a very poor family in the 19th century. When ma sends pa to the market she warns him to only buy what she says so they will have enough money for Christmas. Instead pa comes back with a turkey because he was told it wouldn't cost anything to fatten up and then they could have it for Christmas dinner. I am sure you can guess that it wasn't that easy and of course, come Christmas you would want to eat a family member. The solution to the problem was funny and surprising. You'll have to read it to find out (when I get it in the library that is).
