Moon Over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool

This was the 2011 Newbery winner and is nominated for the 2012 Maine Student Book Award.  Abiline has been sent to Manifest in 1936 by her dad for the summer.  During the summer she tries to figure out why her dad sent her to Manifest.  The story goes back and forth between Manifest in 1918 and Manifest in 1936.  With the help Miss Sadie, a mysterious diviner, and her caretaker, Shady, Abilene learns that things aren't always what they seem.  I found the story to be interesting and I enjoyed how everything came together at the end.  It wasn't a book that kept me entranced and unable to put it down, but it was good.
